Rachel Hendrix

Board Member

Rachel has been active in the area of international education for more than 16 years and currently holds the position of Director of International Affairs at the University of West Florida.

She has served as regional leader with NAFSA: Association of International Educators and past chair for the Florida Association of International Educators. She also serves as chairperson with the Board of Directors for the Gulf Coast Diplomacy, and is a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida.

Rachel was a Fulbright award recipient in 2016, during which time she traveled to Japan to understand more about the Japanese educational system. In 2012, she was selected to participate in the Rotary Foundation's Group Study Exchange program in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where she spent six weeks learning how vocations were practiced abroad. She has taught courses on intercultural business communication and has presented research on U.S. student mobility, cross-cultural competency and international student retention.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in public relations, a master’s degree in strategic communication and leadership, and educational specialist degree in curriculum and instruction all from the University of West Florida. She is in the final stages of earning her doctorate of education with a specialization in diversity studies. Her research focus is in the area of intercultural competency development.
